Dario Rosas Jr., 57

Dario Rosas Jr., a 57-year-old Latino, died Sunday, July 19, after he was beaten during a carjacking the night before in the 11300 block of Acala Avenue in Mission Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

The incident began about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18, when Los Angeles Police officers received a call about a carjacking. 

Rosas drove to his residence and parked his 1997 Toyota Rav 4 SUV, according to an LAPD news release. A short time later, Rosas was attacked and beaten by a man described only as a Latino. The man then got into Rosas' car and drove away.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department took Rosas to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:46 the following morning, according to coroner’s records. 

Rosas’ vehicle was later discovered in Panorama City and impounded for evidence, according to the news release. It is not clear whether Rosas knew his attacker.
