A story for every victim

David Jonathan Escobar, 16

David Escobar, a 16-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, Nov. 27, in the 1500 block of West 254th Street in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Escobar and Jorge Rodriquez, a 16-year-old Latino, were near the corner of Senator Avenue and 254th Street about 5:30 p.m. when a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside the victims and a suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun, said Los Angeles police Officer Sara Faden.

"They ran a short distance before they collapsed," she said. Both teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Faden said it is unclear how many suspects were in the SUV, and investigators are still seeking a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information about the killings is asked to contact Harbor area homicide Dets. Fernando Rivas or Boris Oliva at (310) 726-7881 or (310) 726-7880. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.
