David Hernandez Gonzalez, 42

David Hernandez Gonzalez, a 42-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 19, near North Avalon Boulevard and East D Street in Wilmington, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Gonzalez and another man were on bikes and stopped at an intersection, said LAPD Det. Greg Halka.

The two engaged in a short conversation, then the man pulled out a handgun and fired at Gonzalez, Halka said.

The gunman fled westbound on East D Street.

Gonzalez was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:29 p.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman with the coroner’s office.

Halka said police were looking for a male Latino between the ages of 18 and 25.

[Update, Oct. 22, 2013: Raymond Soriano Vargas, 21, was arrested Oct. 3. He has been charged with one count of murder and one count of dissuading a witness from reporting a crime, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office. He is due back in court Oct. 28 for arraignment.]
