Davon Brance Williams, 24

Davon Brance Williams, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, Nov. 27, in the 11200 block of Zamora Avenue in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 9:45 p.m., Williams was in a courtyard with several others when there was a dispute, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

Williams tried to intervene to break up the fight when a black man pulled out a gun and opened fire, Garrido said.

Williams got into his car, a dark-colored sedan, and tried to drive himself to the hospital, but he collided with another vehicle, causing a crash at Imperial Highway and Alameda Street.

Williams was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The suspect is not in custody.
