A story for every victim

De'Ommie Alexis Falconer De La Cruz, 28

De’Ommie Alexis Falconer De La Cruz, a 28-year-old black woman, was shot and killed Saturday, Nov. 4, near Ocean and Colorado avenues in Santa Monica, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1 a.m., Santa Monica police responded to a call about a shooting in the area, according to Lt. Saul Rodriguez. Upon arriving, officers found De La Cruz and three others on a party bus with several gunshot wounds.

The driver of the bus drove the vehicle to the hospital, where De La Cruz later died at 1:45 a.m, according to coroner’s records. One person was treated at the scene while two victims were taken to a hospital and listed in good condition before being released, police said.

The incident began when several people on the party bus parked on Ocean Avenue left the bus and got into an argument with another group from another party bus parked nearby, police said.

A short time later, several people fired multiple times into one of the buses and ran away.

“I did hear that maybe one of the parties may have recognized them from a previous encounter,” Rodriguez said. “Like they’ve known each other from some prior run-in possibly.”

The two groups were not traveling together, but some passengers may have known each other, Rodriguez said.

Police said they still are searching for two or three males involved in the shooting.
