A story for every victim

Edgar Daniel De Jesus, 20

Edgar De Jesus, a 20-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Thursday, Dec. 22, near Estara Avenue and Fletcher Drive in Glassell Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

De Jesus was outside his home a few minutes after midnight when an unknown person approached and asked him about his gang affiliation, said LAPD Sgt. Sanford Rosenberg.

De Jesus was affiliated with a gang, Rosenberg said.

The assailant then pulled out a gun and fired "numerous rounds," hitting the victim, who died at the scene.

Officials said after the shooting that the assailant got into a car and drove westbound on Estrada Avenue to southbound Andrita Street.

Police did not have a description of the suspect, although they believe the shooting was gang-related.
