Edmond Jerome Woods, 44

Edmond Jerome Woods, a 44-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Aug. 16, in the 700 block of West 82nd Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 12:20 a.m., Woods was standing alone in the street when a person shot him multiple times, LAPD Det. Chris Barling said. It’s unknown whether the gunman ran away on foot or fled in a vehicle. Detectives are looking for witnesses.

Woods was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:50 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
