Edward Angel Ramirez, 35

Edward Angel Ramirez, a 35-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Tuesday, April 30, in the 500 block of Fairview Avenue in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ramirez, a carjacking suspect who fled police and barricaded himself inside a apartment was shot and killed by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies, officials said.

Deputies entered the building in the 500 block of Fairview Avenue between 3:30 and 4 a.m. and shot Ramirez during a confrontation, officials said.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the incident began about 10:30 p.m. Monday, when the Ramirez carjacked a vehicle and was soon spotted by police. Ramirez fled and then abandoned the vehicle on Fairview Avenue, where he hid in a vacant apartment.
