Ellis Edgar Calvin III, 21

Ellis Edgar Calvin III, a 21-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Oct. 6, in the 1200 block of West 109th Street in Westmont, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 3:23 p.m., Calvin and a female friend were in a car parked in Calvin's driveway, L.A. County Sheriff's Lt. Steve Jauch said. A black man walked up and started shooting, striking Calvin and the woman, Jauch said.

Calvin’s mother drove them to the hospital, Jauch said. Calvin was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner's records. The woman was expected to survive, Jauch said. 

The shooter was last seen running west on 109th Street, Jauch said.
