Elroy Milton Mays, 48

Elroy Milton Mays, a 48-year-old black man, died June 20 after he was two shot months earlier in the 11500 block of South Wilmington Avenue in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On April 20 about 9 p.m., Mays was walking west on East 115th Street from South Wilmington Avenue when he crossed paths with another man, said LAPD Det. Sal LaBarbera. The two got into an argument and the man pulled out a handgun and shot Mays in the upper body.

Mays was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead at 11:47 p.m. June 20, according to coroner’s records.
