Father sentenced to life for throwing 4-year-old daughter off cliff

A man was sentenced Sept. 18 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for throwing his 4-year-old daughter off a 120-foot cliff 15 years ago, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Cameron John Brown, a 53-year-old white man, was convicted in May of the first-degree murder of Lauren Serene Key-Marer. Jurors also found true the special circumstances of murder for financial gain and lying in wait.

Brown threw his daughter off Inspiration Point in Rancho Palos Verdes on Nov. 8, 2000, because he hated the girl’s mother and was tired of paying child support, according to prosecutors.
