A story for every victim

Featured reader comments

The Homicide Report is sometimes the bearer of bad news, as this week's first featured reader comment shows. Crystal writes about Roman Freeman, 27, who was shot to death in July 2012 in Pico-Union.

omg. I just confirmed that this was the Roman i knew. This is sad news. I came across this article looking for Roman. One day i just thought hmm i wonder what ever happened to Roman. I was actually looking for him on social media sites. Sad to have come across his homicide report instead. I remember last seeing him in 2010 when he was working at a pizza hut in Pacoima. Does anyone know where he is buried?

And this week also brings a reminder of the immediate pain and the pain that lingers from violence. Ruth Allen writes three days after the death of Dominique Lee Austin, 25, in Inglewood; and Lavert Lee writes about Davonne Loushan Anderson, 26, 10 years after he was shot to death in Long Beach.

First Ruth Allen:

Dominique, was as much a part of my family as the rest of my family members, he really stepped up to the plate in his role as God Fathler to my great grand daughter, when her father Tyrone, Dominiques best friend passed. I know he is with our Lord , with Tyrone and his grandmother whom he loved so much. Rest In Peace my second grandson, I hope to see you and Tyrone in heaven one day. I will always love my boys. Ruth

And Lavert Lee:

DaVonne was a Son, Brother, and Uncle. He was was also a Cousin, Nephew and Friend. He was been gone for 10 years now and he is missed by everyone in his family. He was a proud uncle and I know he is delighted to be watching over his nieces and nephew. His laugh was infectious. Not a family event goes by that we don't think about him. We miss him.
