Fernando Medina, a 25-year-old Latino male, died Sunday, Feb. 11, after being shot in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

I still cant believe your gone, Twabesso! Since the day I met you, it's been nothing short of an adventure! We have had plenty of ups and downs and got ourselves into some serious trouble... I took a charge for you, you bailed me out. I loved you unconditionally. You destroyed my world. I made yours hectic. You stepped up for my first daughter, even though her dad tried to kill you. We had a daughter together, but.. You destroyed our family, and left Levi and I to the wolves. I loved you more than words can describe. Even though we weren't exactly the best in a relationship, you knew how to be a friend to me and although your way of thinking was that of a gangster, you had begun to open your heart and mind to real life and co parenting. I am so grateful that we got to spend those last few weeks working out our family issues and we had learned how to compromise and communicate. You drove me crazy, Fernando lol... But, looking back over the past decade, I would not ask for the experience to be any different. You taught me more than I'd realized. It's so sad that we don't realize those types of things until our loved ones pass. You've left a mark on me, for eternity. Thank you for every second of arguments, jail time, tears, laughter, life lessons, enemies and friends... You will always be remembered. I promise to tell Levi all about you and our story. All of it. The good as well as the bad. Even the horrific, when the time is right. I wish you knew how special you were. You never really believed you could be something different. I wish you'd realized what I'd been telling you for years. For all you young kids reading this, take it from me, the babymama of an active gang member (up u til his fatal death)... Life has so much more out there. Guns, drugs, criminal behavior, violence and disrespect only ends in death. Women and children suffer the consequences of a gangster actions. TV glorifies the lifestyle, but they leave out the legacy and innocent lives that are effected and left behind to try to pick up the pieces. Travieso (Fernando Medina) was a menace to society, to my life And to everyone around him. He wanted to be. Good kid so bad, but drugs and not being able to leave the gang behind tormented him to the point of no return. I pray someone sees this and takes this serious. Life's not a joke. The lifestyle these guys live, is not worth the terror you put yourself and your family through. Please if you are thinking about or already have been jumped into a gang, look at this young man, he may look cool like the movies, but behind the scenes, behind closed doors he lived a majority of his life in juvenile hall And jail. People were after him constantly, he had two previous attempted murders occur... Third time's a charm, his luck ran out. Now he's gone. Our daughter is only 2, and she cries and tells me "Daddy's asleep, wakey him up Mommy"... So not worth it!
