A story for every victim

Frank Andrew Munoz, 60

Frank Andrew Munoz, a 60-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Oct. 1, in the 22000 block of Ibex Avenue in Hawaiian Gardens, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Munoz was sitting on a concrete wall in the residential area about 3:30 p.m. when a black Cherokee SUV drove up to him and at least two people got out, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Rosson said.

The men opened fire, shooting Munoz multiple times, and then got back into the SUV and drove away, Rosson said.

Munoz, who lived in Wilmington, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:10 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Investigators have very little information about the shooters, who were described only as Latinos.

Investigators believe the shooting was drug-related, Rosson said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s  Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
