George Johnny Rodriguez Jr., 30

George Rodriguez Jr., a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 13, in the 1000 block of East L Street in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rodriguez and his girlfriend were walking down a sidewalk about 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle drove past them and parked, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.

Two of the three occupants in the car got out, began chasing Rodriguez and then fired several shots at him. Rodriguez was shot in the upper torso and then the assailants ran back to their vehicle and fled the area, police said.

Paramedics were called and Rodriguez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
