Gerardo De Luna, 33

Gerardo De Luna (2018-02-20)

Gerardo De Luna, a 33-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead Tuesday, Feb. 20, after being shot in the 11000 block of Hampel Avenue in the Littlerock area of Northeast Antelope Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

De Luna, a resident of Littlerock, was found in a large metal work shed outside the home of Mariano Panduro Campos, a 41-year-old Latino who also was found dead with gunshot wounds, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.

Campos lived in one of four homes on a large lot in an isolated part of Littlerock and worked on cars out of his home, Mendoza said.

One of Campos’ family members, who lived on another part of the property, went looking for Campos around 12:30 p.m. and found the two men, Mendoza said.

De Luna and Campos were pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Both had been shot multiple times.

Mendoza said Campos’ family member didn’t recognize De Luna, so it’s unclear how the two knew each other or why he was in the shed.

The shed appeared to have been ransacked, but Mendoza said investigators don’t know whether the shooting was part of a robbery.

“The motive is unknown, and it’s unknown how long they had been there,” the lieutenant said. “The shooting could have happened that morning or the night before.”
