Geron Bernard Lacy, 16

Geron Bernard Lacy, a 16-year-old black boy, was shot and killed Tuesday, May 3, in the 3300 block of East 65th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Long Beach Police officers were called to the area to investigate a shooting, according to a news release from the department. Officers found Lacy suffering from gunshot wounds.

Lacy was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:58 p.m. at Ramona Park, according to coroner’s records.

An autopsy performed determined that Lacy suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Lacy may have been involved in a fight with the shooter or shooters earlier in the night, police said. The assailants left the area, then returned and shot the boy.

The shooting is being “is being investigated as possibly gang-related,” police said in a statement.
