Gonzalo Garcia-Garcia, a 31-year-old Latino male, died Monday, Dec. 23, after being shot in Highland Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

We will all miss our dear Gonzalo. He was my cousin but I seen him as my little brother. He lived with us for 14 years. He came to this country, just like everyone else, to live the American dream. He was supporting his parents in Mexico and his daughter here in Los Angeles. Gonzalo will be remembered as he was, loving, caring, giving, and a hard worker. He always said, "We need to live life the best that we can because we don't know what tomorrow brings". Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable. One day I will see him again as I know he is an Angel now watching over us. For those that took his life, they will one day be caught and justice will take its place. They took from us a great son, brother, father, cousin, friend... I will always cherish all the memories and good times we had with him. This, no one can take from me. May my cousin Gonzalo rest in peace.
