James Wilder, 41

James Wilder, a 41-year-old black man, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, hours after he was shot in the 2500 block of Spaulding Avenue in West Adams, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Wilder was standing in the street talking to a mechanic Oct. 29 about 9 p.m. when an unknown person drove-by and shot at the two, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called, and Wilder was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at midnight. Preliminary records show he died from gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.

The coroner's office had no information on the status of the second victim.
