Jermaine Alexander Williams, 33

Jermaine Alexander Williams, a 33-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, Feb. 26 near South Western Avenue and West 42nd Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after midnight, Williams was driving with a woman south on South Western Avenue when a white SUV pulled up beside them, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

A person inside the SUV fired multiple rounds into Williams’ car. Williams and the woman were injured.

The SUV then fled south on South Western Avenue.

Williams was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:32 a.m., according to coroner’s records. The woman survived, police said.
