Jesus Pedro Valencia, 20

Jesus Pedro Valencia, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, July 2, in the 25500 block of Normandie Avenue in Harbor City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

The incident began when Valencia left his girlfriend’s house about 6:15 p.m. and began walking east through an alley behind Normandie, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. 

Valencia was shot several times in the alley with an unknown caliber handgun, according to the release. Investigators say they don’t know how many shooters were involved or why Valencia was shot. 

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Valencia dead at the scene at 6:28 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
