A story for every victim

Victor Eduardo Mardueno, 25

Victor Eduardo Mardueno, a 25-year-old Latino, was found dead Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the 1000 block of East Wanamaker Drive in Covina, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Mardueno called his girlfriend Sept. 23 to say he was leaving a friend's house to come to her place, but he never showed up, said Covina police Lt. Pat Buchanan.

When he didn't arrive, she called police.

Four days later a body was found in the trunk of the Toyota Camry he had been driving when he disappeared.

Neighbors had called police to report that the car had been sitting there for several days, Buchanan said.

When officers arrived they noticed a foul odor coming from the vehicle. They forced open the trunk and found Mardueno's body inside.

Mardueno died of multiple gunshot wounds, said officials with the L.A. County coroner's office.

Buchanan said police were still trying to track down Mardueno's friends and acquaintances to piece together what might have happened.

Investigators have not identified a suspect.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
