Johnson Dontong, 34

Johnson Dontong, a 34-year-old black man, was found dead Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the 14000 block of Yukon Avenue in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 11 a.m., L.A. County sheriff’s deputies responded to a home to perform a welfare check and found Dontong unresponsive and wrapped in blankets in the bedroom, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department. An autopsy found that Dontong suffered severe trauma to his head. 

In an online fundraiser for Dontong’s funeral, a person wrote that he was working to support his family in Cameroon.

On Feb. 5, detectives arrested Brandy Elizabeth Lemon, a 26-year-old black woman, on suspicion of murder in the death of Dontong, her husband. Lemon has pleaded not guilty.
