Jose Alberto Orellana-Garcia, a 17-year-old Latino, died Monday, May 25, after he was stabbed in the 2900 block of North Broadway in Lincoln Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 5 p.m. on May 22, Orellana-Garcia was involved in a fight with a man on the sidewalk, said LAPD Det. Jose Ramirez.

The man pulled out a “stabbing instrument” and stabbed Orellana-Garcia once in the chest, Ramirez said.

Ramirez said that Orellana-Garcia and the other man had an “ongoing dispute” but would not elaborate further.

On June 2, Luciano Rodriguez, a 23-year-old Latino, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Rodriguez has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with the allegation that he used a knife in the attack, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.
