Jose David Flores, a 28-year-old Latino, was found dead in the trunk of his car May 31, 2015, near the intersection of Golden Valley Road and Robert C. Lee Parkway in Santa Clarita, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives.
The sheriff's office is investigating Flores' death as a homicide, said Det. Kathleen Gallagher, but details about the cause and time of death are being withheld until the investigation is complete.
"We're keeping some of that information confidential so if we get any good leads, we can confirm things," Gallagher said.
Flores' body was found on May 31 about 9:30 a.m., when a deputy spotted a blue Honda Accord parked illegally on the shoulder of Golden Valley Road, Gallagher said.
The deputy arranged to have the vehicle towed, and during the routine inventory search of the car, Flores' body was discovered in the trunk.
Investigators have confirmed that the car belonged to Flores, who appeared to be traveling from Leggett, a Northern California town about 68 miles north of Ukiah on Highway 101.
