Jose Luis Gonsales-Osegura, 26

Jose Luis Gonsales-Osegura, a 26-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Sunday, Aug. 25, near West Jefferson Boulevard and 9th Avenue in Jefferson Park, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Gonsales-Osegura of Compton walked out of a liquor store just after 2 a.m. with several people when he saw two men assaulting a person outside a laundromat, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.

The same two men approached Gonsales-Osegura and a 25-year-old man and got into a fight, LaBarbera said.

One of the two men pulled out a knife and began stabbing Gonsales-Osegura and the 25-year-old.

Gonsales-Osegura was taken to a hospital, where he died at 2:19 a.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter. The 25-year-old man was treated for multiple lacerations, LaBarbera said.
