Jose Manuel Macias Cano, 18

Jose Manuel Macias Cano, an 18-year-old Latino, was shot several times and died Thursday, Aug.6, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

Macias Cano was shot in the 5100 block on Santa Ana Street in Cudahy. He and a friend were found shot about 8 p.m. and Macias Cano was pronounced dead at the scene, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.

Winter said he had no information about the second shooting victim.

All i wanna say is that he will be missed 4ever!! i still remember we talked a day before the tragedy... i remember alma and gusty had invited him to eat at the house but he said he was on his way to the park to play basketball with his boys... we were gonna see each other on friday... we had planned a lil date for the both of us... but i never got his phone call that friday... i was calling and txting him but his fone was off... so i told gusty to call him and he also said his fone was off... i was already worrying too much and i was actually thinking the worse.. well an hr later one of gusty's brothers call him to tell him that my Manuel got shot and died... when he told me i held in my feelings and tears.. but then i went inside the room and burst out in tears... well later on that day we had gone to the place where it all happened and i cried when i seen all the candles... it was a big loss for me and am pretty sure for his friends and family members as well... he will always have a special place in my heart!!! i will always remember that incredible voice when he used to sing, and those words when he used to call me his gorgeous morenita!!! i will love him forever!!! "you're in a better place now and watching us like the angel you are...." it's not a goodbye, it's a see you later!! and don't worry, we'll keep in contact with your fam!!

I heard 8 crackling pop sounds that day. Because I am a very suspicious person I went too investigated. I took me less than 2 minutes to walk and see the crime seen. Clear and total silence, it was like Santa Ana st was completely inhabitant for those seconds. When people were emerging out of there fear is when grief strike and shock those who seen. One sleeping body next to another body struggling to get up is what I witness. He lies on the floor with one arm reaching to the sky and waves to a divine power. Then the police siren screams attracting more people to the crime scene. A circle of on lookers from all ages awed. And as shock as they might seem the police officer was more overwhelmed with the scene. He reaches for his dispatch phone with one hand and gently steps towards the one body that has a soul. His foot taps the unfortunate soul’s chest, urging him not to get up. As all this chaos is happening a mother pass by with her small daughter. She tells her don’t look back and covers her eyes with one hand. The little girl looks back at the struggling man on the floor. A river of tears merges down the little girl face of age 12. Unfortunately, I have seen to many scenes like this in Cudahy. I been living in this small city for 20 something years. This is a common plague that endures those who stay here for many yrs. I give my apologies and sympathy to those love ones who lost these young adults. May god Bless you…..
