Jose Mendoza, 20

Jose Mendoza, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, March 5, in the 22100 block of West Roscoe Boulevard in West Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Mendoza was in a parking lot about 12:45 a.m. when he was shot, LAPD Det. Ryan Verna said.

Mendoza was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:21 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Reyanna Villarreal, a 25-year-old Latina, was arrested on suspicion of murder the same day, according to online jail records.

Villarreal was charged March 7 with one count of murder with the allegation that she used a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Villarreal is due back in court July 25, according to online court records.

Villarreal and Mendoza were dating, according to prosecutors. It’s unknown whether there was an argument prior to the shooting, police said.
