Jose Luis Rivera, 37

Jose Rivera, a 37-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Oct. 2, in the 1400 block of East 23rd Street in Central-Alameda, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rivera, of Los Angeles, was walking down the street when he was shot "numerous times" in the chest, said Sgt. Omar Bazulto of the LAPD's Newton station.

The killing was not believed to be gang-related. Bazulto had no information on the suspects.
