Joseph Ellis Aguilar, 23

Joseph Ellis Aguilar, a 23-year-old Latino, died Friday, June 17, after he was was fatally shot in the 500 block of East McKinley Avenue in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On June 16, at about 11:45 p.m., Aguilar was at a family party at his home when a fight broke out, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty of the Pomona Police Department. During the fight, Timothy McKinney, 19, drew a firearm and shot Aguilar, Hagerty said. 

Aguilar died at a local hospital on June 17 at 12:32 a.m, according to coroner’s records.

On June 20, McKinney was charged with murder, according to prosecutors; he also faces gang and gun allegations. His arraignment is scheduled for July 12.
