Joseph Richard Garcia, 20

Joseph Richard Garcia, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 10, in the 6000 block of Norwalk Boulevard in West Whittier-Los Nietos, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Garcia was shot while walking on the sidewalk about 4:29 p.m.

Authorities were called and the victim was taken by paramedics to the hospital, but died en route, Winter said. He was pronounced dead in the ambulance at 4:39 p.m.

According to coroner's records, Garcia was shot several times in the neck and chest.

There were no other additional details about the killing.
