Joyce Shanks, 33, was found strangled in the 4500 block of West Slauson Avenue in View Park-Windsor Hills on Nov. 11, 1985.
Authorities did not provide additional information about Shanks or this incident.
They did describe her death as among the slayings believed to be connected to an unidentified serial killer operating in the South L.A. area.
