Juan Manuel Huerta, 28

Juan Huerta, a 28-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, March 21, in the 2400 block of South Atlantic Boulevard in Commerce, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies received a 911 call from a store owner who  saw Huerta shot about 6:40 p.m., said sheriff's homicide Det. Mitch Robison, who is handling the case.

When authorities arrived, they found Huerta injured on the sidewalk. He was taken by paramedics to L.A. County/USC Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Coroner's records show Huerta died from a shotgun wound to the abdomen.

Detectives are still looking into whether the shooting was gang-related.
