A story for every victim

Julio Adonay Nunez Bolanos, 46

Julio Adonay Nunez-Bolanos, a 46-year-old Latino, died Friday, Jan. 13, after suffering blunt force trauma in the 400 block of South Hartford Avenue in Westlake, according to police and coroner’s records.

About 12:56 a.m., Nunez-Bolanos and a 21-year-old man got into an argument inside an apartment, said Los Angeles Police Det. Ray Martinez. Martinez said the dispute began with an argument between the men's partners, who are related.

Prosecutors said Nunez-Bolanos followed the man outside. The man, who was with his wife and their young child, got into a car to leave, and Nunez-Bolanos shattered the windshield with a metal pipe. The man then got out of the car, and the two fought.

Nunez-Bolanos was hit in the head.

He was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. at the scene, according to coroner’s records.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office declined to file charges against the 21-year-old man, stating that he "acted in self-defense and defense of his family."
