A story for every victim

Justin Michael Wallace, 22

Justin Michael Wallace, a 22-year-old white man, was fatally shot Monday, April 6 in the 800 block of North Irena Avenue in Redondo Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Redondo Beach police responded to a call about 11 a.m. about an accidental shooting. When they arrived, Wallace was lying in his bed with a shotgun wound to the chest, said Sgt. Fabian Saucedo.

A subsequent investigation led officers to believe the killing was deliberate.

Zachary Joseph Icardi, a 22-year-old white man, was taken into custody on suspicion of murder that same night. Saucedo said the two were friends for several years.

Icardi was released the next day due to insufficient evidence, police said.

Months later, on Sept. 3, prosecutors filed a complaint charging Icardi for the killing and he was subsequently taken into custody, Saucedo said.

Icardi was charged with one count of murder with a special allegation of intentional use of a firearm to cause bodily harm, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
