Keanta Lamont Christopher, 37

Keanta Lamont Christopher, a 37-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 25, near South Figueroa and West 113th streets in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 1 a.m., Christopher was in a parking lot in the area hanging out with others when two males wearing hooded sweatshirts walked up and began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

The assailants got into a sedan and fled, Kouri said.

Christopher and another man who were wounded got into a vehicle, called police and met officers at South Figueroa and West 108th streets, Kouri said.

By that point, Christopher was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The other man who was wounded will survive his injuries, police said.
