Keyon Lamar Childs, 26

Keyon Lamar Childs, a 26-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, June 23, in the 900 block of East Slauson Avenue in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1:30 p.m., Childs and two others were in a silver Infiniti traveling east on East Slauson Avenue when a large van approached and a person inside began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Julio Benavides. Childs' car then hit a light pole about 30 yards away.

Childs was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

The van was described as dark in color. Police said they are looking for more than one person in the slaying — a driver and passenger.
