Lamar Green Jr., 28

Lamar Green Jr., a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, July 24, at the corner of Victory Boulevard and Reseda Boulevard in West Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Green and another 28-year-old man were exiting a convenience store and returning to their car about 1:10 a.m. when an unknown shooter walked up and opened fire, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.

Green was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, officials said.

Investigators said they believe that Green was targeted by the the shooter. His friend was not injured.

 The suspect is described as a 20- to 30-year-old black or Latino male. He was reported to have fled the scene on foot.
