Lavon Ellison, 27

Lavon Ellison, 27, a black man, died after a shooting at 216 84th Place at Broadway between 9 and 11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, said LAPD 77th Street Det. Carlos Velasquez.

Two black men or youths confronted and chased him, shooting. He was struck and made it a block before collapsing. Ellison died later at California Hospital.

I can still remember the first time you came up north and I was so excited. It was somewhere around my ninth or tenth birthday. I remember you telling me I had to be in your music video. I swear I thought you were famous. I told everyone. I didn't even know you had passed till I moved out here and there was no you. That was probably the biggest letdown. What sucks more is I don't even have anything to remember you by. nothing to look at and hold when I'm feeling low. no pictures to kiss. All I have is the memory of you picking me and tossing me in the air, then put me on your shoulders. One of the happiest day of my life. I've missed you ever since.... and I love you. I just hope when you're watching your proud to call me your little sister.
