Lazaro Dreke Rodriguez, 42

Lazaro Dreke Rodriguez, a 42-year-old Latino, died Thursday, Feb. 16, weeks after he was shot near South San Pedro and East Fifth streets in downtown Los Angeles, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

About 8:50 a.m. on Jan. 29, Rodriguez was involved in a dispute with another person, said Los Angeles Police Det. Doug Pierce. The other person pulled out a gun and shot Rodriguez.

Rodriguez -- who was also known as Lazaro Rodriguez Dreke, according to police -- was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on Feb. 16 at 4:21 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Police don't yet know what the dispute was about. An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect, Rigoberto Menendez, a 79-year-old Latino, police said.
