A story for every victim

Linda Wood, 58

A Palmdale man was charged with murder May 23 in the death of his girlfriend, who jumped out of a moving vehicle during a domestic violence attack, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Bryan McKim, 57, faces one count of murder and one count of kidnapping.

On March 3, McKim and Linda Wood, 59, his girlfriend of three years, got into an argument that turned physical while McKim drove their Chevrolet pickup truck near East Avenue R in Palmdale, said

When Wood tried to get of the vehicle, McKim grabbed her hair and arms to stop her, prosecutors added.

Wood broke free and jumped out of the moving truck and hit her head on the street, according to prosecutors. She was taken to a hospital where she died at 6:11 p.m. on March 12, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

McKim is scheduled to be in court Sept. 2.
