Louis George Shaw, 53

Louis George Shaw, a 53-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, June 5 near West 69th Street and South Budlong Avenue in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 10:30 a.m., Shaw and another person got into a disagreement, LAPD Det. Dave Garrido said. During the confrontation, Shaw was shot in the head. The gunman fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Shaw, who was shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigators for the coroner's office. Neighbors who heard the gunshots called 911, and paramedics discovered Shaw on the ground.
