Vyacheslav Berzer, 33

Vyacheslav Berzer, a 33-year-old white man, was shot and killed Sunday, April 1, in the 42600 block of Sierra Highway in Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

[Editor's note: An earlier version of this post, based on information from the coroner's office, identified the victim as an unknown Caucasian male.]

Berzer was killed about 11 p.m. in the parking lot of Snooky’s, a strip club, according to officials with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

The victim appeared to have been a patron at the club, said Sgt. Robert Rush of the sheriff’s Lancaster station.

Earlier in the night, he and another man were asked by security guards to leave the location. Berzer later returned with the shotgun and pointed it at a security guard, who then pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds at Berzer, according to authorities.

Berzer was struck in the upper body and pronounced dead at the scene. The guard was detained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to contact the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
