Man sentenced for killing his partner on skid row

A man was sentenced Dec. 1 to 50 years to life in state prison in the death of a transgender woman in downtown Los Angeles’ skid row area last year, according to the L.A. County district attorney’s office.

Daniel Molayem, 39, was found guilty of first-degree murder for killing Kourtney Yochum, 32, his partner.

On March 23, 2016, Molayem approached Yochum in the 500 block of San Pedro Street and shot her with a handgun, prosecutors said. She died at the scene.

Yochum and Molayem had been dating for more than 15 years, according to prosecutors.
