Man sentenced for stabbing stepfather to death

A 22-year-old Latino was sentenced Sept. 25 to 16 years to life in state prison for stabbing his stepfather to death, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

On Sept. 10, Rudy Flores pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder, said Deputy Dist. Atty. R.J. Dreiling.

Nery Puluc Ambrosio, a 54-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Dec. 25, 2013, in the 1900 block of East 105th Street in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Flores had been arguing with his mother over a baseball bat she had hidden from him, Dreiling said. The mother refused to tell Flores where the bat was and went to her bedroom. Flores, then pushed his way into the room and stabbed Ambrosio, Dreiling said.

Ambrosio was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:21 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
