Manuel Alejandro Arechiga, 18

Manuel Arechiga, an 18-year-old Latino, died of a gunshot wound Tuesday. Nov. 1, in the 600 block of East 9th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

About 2 a.m., Long Beach police received a call about a man lying on a walkway near an apartment complex, said Lt. Erik Herzog. 

Officers found Arechiga, who was unresponsive and had been shot in the chest, Herzog said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:19 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

1:05 p.m., Nov. 7: A previous version of this article gave the incorrect address for where Arechiga was found. He was found in the 600 block of East 9th Street, not West 9th Street.
