Manuel Triana Lara, 52

Manuel Lara, a 52-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Sunday, Nov. 27, in the 500 block of West 84th Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Lara was jump-starting his car about 8:40 p.m. when a man approached him and began shooting, said Officer Roger Aguirre at the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station.

Paramedics were called and began taking Lara to the hospital when he died, Aguirre said.

Aguirre said police believe that the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt. The victim's 8-year-old son was with him when he was shot, Aguirre said. He had no description of the suspect.
