A story for every victim

Margarita Rosas, 34

Margarita Rosas, a 34-year-old Latina, was fatally shot Wednesday, July 6, in the 5000 block of Elizabeth Street in Cudahy, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Rosas was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car with a co-worker outside his home about 2:30 a.m. when someone fired several rounds into the vehicle, said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Cotter.

The shots were fired from the driver's side window, Cotter said. Rosas was struck in the upper torso and the coworker, a 26-year-old man, was shot in the lower body.

Both were taken to the hospital, Cotter said, but Rosas was pronounced dead at 3:02 a.m. The man is expected to survive his injuries.

Cotter said the two worked at a warehouse. He said investigators don't know if the two had been working prior to the shooting.

Investigators don't have a description of the attacker or a motive for the shooting, Cotter said.
