Maria Inasaret Perez, a 55-year-old Latina, was stabbed to death Thursday, Feb. 13, in the 300 block of Harps Avenue in San Fernando, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

San Fernando police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon around 3:30 p.m. and found the victim on the ground with multiple stab wounds and a man with a knife standing over her, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Perez was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m.

Roman Maldonado, Perez's 30-year-old son, has been booked on suspicion of murder.

Maldonado is due in court March 10.

Homicide detectives from the Sheriff's Department were assisting the San Fernando Police Department in the investigation.
