Michael McGuire, a 21-year-old white man, died Monday, June 14, hours after he was shot in the 2400 block of Louella Avenue in Venice, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police responded to the area after they received a call of shots fired about 2 a.m., according to an LAPD news release.

When officers arrived, they found McGuire and a second male suffering from gunshot wounds, and they were taken by paramedics to a local hospital.

Although initially listed in critical condition, McGuire died 12 hours later due to complications from a gunshot wound to the back of the head, according to coroner's records.

The other male victim who was with McGuire remains in stable condition, police said.

During the investigation, authorities learned that McGuire and the other man were walking on the sidewalk when one or more assailants shot at them from a dark-colored SUV.

Currently, police do not have a description of the suspected shooters, and it's unknown if the incident was gang-related.
